Barista Alberta – 5-13-12

Friendly baristas, and a garage style door that lets fresh air+light in – and good music out to the courtyard – are just two of the positives of this tasteful and stylish shop. http://baristapdx.com/     1725 NE Alberta

Delphina’s Bakery – 5-6-12

Adjacent to the bakery, this cozy retail shop has a wide selection of pastries, as well as interesting art on its walls. Because of its relatively smaller size, however, seating options are limited which influences how long someone hangs out there.  http://delphinasbakerycafe.com/   4636 NE 42nd.

Anna Bannanas N: 4-29-2012

Great location in the heart of the St. Johns business district.  Nice neighborhood feel with large windows fronting Lombard street and sidewalk seating too.  Very comfortable and friendly.   8716 N. Lombard   http://annabannanascafe.com/stjohns

Urban Grind in NW- 4-22-12

Situated in a triangular shaped space in a former light industrial, cinder block building on 14th in the Pearl, the shop has lots of light, a variety of seating options, and what would seem like the ingredients for attracting a nice array of customers.   On our morning, however, the shop seemed didn’t seem awake.    http://urbangrindcoffee.com/   911 NW 14th.

Laurelhurst Cafe: 4-1-2012

Though unassuming on the outside, the relatively cozy inside is chock full of interesting amenities: art on the walls, wooden sculpted spoons hanging from the ceiling, a small kids area (plus scheduled story times,) a jazz trio plays Sundays at 5, panini sandwiches, beer and wine, in addition Water Ave. Coffee, Smith Tea and home-made pastries.    4611 E. Blend Coffee Lounge: 3-25-12

Five of us were on last Sunday’s outing, taking the scenic route via  Willamette Blvd. to reach Blend on N. Killingsworth just off Greeley.   Found a shop with two personalities, depending if you were in the section that used to be light-industrial-cinder-block, or the one that was commercial with lots of window space.   Also found ample bike parking.   Talked a good deal about the upcoming mayoral race.   2710 N. Killingsworth.    http://www.facebook.com/pages/Blend-Coffee-Lounge/40084213458
