Sept. 9, 2018– Revisiting Groundwork/NW

GroundworkNW.int

Last September we visited the flagship Groundwork/Portland outlet and were intrigued by the renovations that seemed to be taking place in the former Kobos showroom.   Even half done it was a stimulating place to be, so our curiosities wanted an update.  Disappointingly it’s still a stimulating place to hang out, but not much significant change took place since our 2017 visit beyond counter and kitchen work.  The baristas let us know they are behind their construction timetable, and we committed to return in Sept. of 2019.

Discussion topics started on sports before moving to politics: We first covered the snappy features of Shar’s electric bike; In tennis G then brought us up to date on Serena’s  valiant return from 3 operations following a caesarian, how far she’s come back, and then her undoing due in part to the referee’s unusual calls and her  losing her composure, and in part due to the wondrous play of her 20 yr old opponent Naomi Osaka; we then chewed on Nike’s bold new ad featuring Colin Kaepernick, before scratching our heads regarding Phil Knight’s obscene multi-million contribution to Knute Beuhler’s campaign for governor.
