Alert and aware that many of the newer shops we’ve visited recently are on the cozy, small side, it was a good change of pace to return to what felt like the wide open spaces at the Elevator Commons site in inner SE . Shuffleboard anyone?? That’s right, there’s enough space in this semi-industrial setting to reserve space for shuffleboard, a telephone booth, and an elevator. Thus while the Elevator space isn’t warm and fuzzy, there’s enough unique visual eye candy, including a phone booth, glass elevator, and drop-down garage-like door that opens up to the outdoors to keep most patrons stimulated.

Discussion-wise, topics during these two sessions included the unexpected passing of a seemingly healthy friend, and how that’s shaken their community of friends; frustrations at buying a house in order to downsize and age in place; issues with in-laws who grate on your nerves; a comparison of Colorado and Oregon ballot measures on the November ballot; and reflections on the Democrats’ chance to flip the House and/or Senate.
