July 30, 2017– Revisiting Jet Black, Yet Again

Unprecedented for the biking/coffee shop group, this was H’s 3rd trip to the same shop this month.  Each time he persuaded a different bike member to go, still giddy that the Jet Black owners would invest time and money to open a stylish vegan coffee shop in the neglected Gateway neighborhood.

Today’s discussion between M and H revolved mostly around each’s plans for the upcoming eclipse.  M and his wife J just came back from camping out and exploring the Strawberry Mtns where M plans to go for the eclipse, but staying away from Strawberry Mtn itself which may be overrun with campers/visitors; a worker there suggested an alternative out-of-the-way viewpoint, circuitous to reach but most likely perfect for viewing the eclipse.  H and his wife P, meanwhile, are visiting friends who though based in France, spend 3 months each year in Waldport; they have a lovely, relaxing deck overlooking the Alsea Bay.  Admittedly, Waldport may only receive 30-45 seconds of total blackness, but it’s fine for H and P in order to avoid the madhouse crowds; their only worry is what plan B will look like in case Waldport is fogged over that morning.
