Revisiting The Arbor Lodge: August 16, 2015

With only a 2 and a half months left to take advantage of the Chinook Book’s varied coupons, we’ve been using our Sunday outings to revisit several shops for which we have such coupons.  In 2015 Dragonfly had the most generous Chinook offering, but a free cup of coffee alone, thanks to the Chinook Book, is enough for us to look forward to saying hi to Bipartisan, Extracto, Water Ave., Floyd’s, and Arbor Lodge, which this month is celebrating its fourth birthday.

It’s fun to see that the Arbor Lodge has become an institution for its community, as it looked like at least half of its tables were being used by individuals who were using the Lodge as a meeting spot.  As we mentioned when we first visited the Lodge three years ago, it is very inviting place to go, but its limited size and layout could impede folks from having long, conversations.

For the three of us, this morning’s discussion centered on each of our summer experiences in the Wallowas: how easy/difficult to access our campsights, how many people we came across, how much snow has been lost compared to past excursions, how far we traveled to be 600 steps from the lake in order to have a fire, how fit we felt in our 60s, and whether using pack animals to tranport our gear was in our future.
