John St. Cafe– October 13, 2013

On this brisk fall morning, three of us took the exhilarating 8+ mile ride to St. Johns to experience this attractive cafe.  On Lombard it’s just a block from the similarly named James John Cafe which we visited in May.   We appreciated the cafe’s casual feel with its cement floor, big windows, and attractive wall art.   And we learned its primary focus is on breakfast and lunch – as opposed to being a hangout – so pastry and seating choices are limited.   Nevertheless, we managed to have lively, wide-ranging discussions on the wealth of good/bad experiences Teddy Roosevelt had prior to his presidency, the remarkable maturity/bravery of M’s 8 year-old grand-cousin back east who publicly articulated his angst about being transgendered, world sustainability, and the unpredictability of our lives’ journeys.   8338 N. Lombard.
